Pune , 24 January 2023: The innovative education provider Employability.life brought the leaders of Federation University Australia to Pune today for a high-level Talk Live session with senior representatives of industry and academia, held at the Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT). The discussion revolved around building talent for the new digital economy and maintaining optimal employability for graduates and professionals.

The session commenced with Employability.life Chairman, Dr Manish Malhotra, announcing the launch of a talent incubator at the prestigious institute to prepare learners for the workplace by a focus on meeting employer requirements for those jobs most in demand. This was welcomed by Mr Bharat Rajkumar Agarwal, Managing Trustee, Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust (which owns and manages VIIT). This was followed by a talk from special guest Professor Duncan Bentley, Vice Chancellor & President of Federation University, who emphasized that the challenges facing India today is how students can be supplied with the skills they need to power the digital economy. He stressed the importance of learners preparing themselves to add value to the organization when the economy gets tough – through internships, projects, and experience gained whilst learning – which will fortify their career for life.

Next, Employability.life CEO Supriyo Chaudhuri spoke a about the rapid changes in the fundamental content of jobs, and the consequent need for learners to acquire professional confidence so that they can face any type of uncertainty that comes their way. They focused on new basic literacies to help learners build confidence and keep reinventing themselves as they develop their careers. These include having a growth mindset, developing three key areas of intelligence– career, culture, and digital – and building influence (collaboration, networking).

Subsequently, in an all-star lineup, Ms Carolyn Chong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global & Engagement) of Federation University, Mr Ashutosh Sharma, Global Head of Consulting for BFS at Zensar Technologies, Mr Girish Kukreja, Founder & CEO of FlexC Works, and Ms Minoo Mantri, Senior Vice President at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, talked about ways in which the digital revolution is changing their respective sectors.

A common theme that emerged was the importance of learners having experiential knowledge so that they become agile and capable of adapting to the revolutionized industry where digital is now connected to every sector. Moreover, an evident solution is for learners to keep gathering expertise in their core competency to remain relevant in the changing world of work.
