Pune, 4th June 2026: As temperatures continue to rise and the city gradually slips into its annual summer haze, Pune’s residents are fighting back in the most fashionable way possible — with breathable fabrics, oversized silhouettes, and effortless styling.

From the student-packed lanes of FC Road to the bustling shopping stretches of MG Road and the cozy cafés of Koregaon Park, one thing is clear this season: Pune is dressing for comfort, individuality, and survival in the relentless summer heat that has lingered since late March and continued through April.

Street style in Pune has never been solely about designer labels. Instead, it reflects a strong sense of personal identity — a blend of thrifted finds, inherited crop tops, wardrobe basics worn on repeat, and statement accessories that somehow come together seamlessly. This summer, despite the soaring temperatures, Punekars continue to embrace fashion with ease and confidence.

Oversized and Baggy Fits Steal the Show
If there is one silhouette dominating Pune’s streets this summer, it is the oversized fit.

Baggy denims, parachute pants, loose cargos, and drop-shoulder graphic T-shirts are everywhere. Once associated primarily with Gen Z, oversized fashion has now found admirers across age groups.

“I would much rather wear oversized outfits along with a scarf this summer than anything that sticks to my skin,” says Sanvi Jadhav, a 16-year-old student who recently completed her board examinations.

“I prefer baggy, oversized clothes because they reflect my personal style and are perfect for the summer heat,” says Krishna Chatterjee, a Class 12 student.

The appeal is as practical as it is aesthetic. Tight-fitting clothes and Pune’s dry afternoon heat are rarely a comfortable combination. Relaxed silhouettes offer better movement, greater breathability, and an easygoing streetwear edge that perfectly complements the city’s laid-back character.
Cotton, Linen, Sleeveless Styles — and Sunscreen
Heavy synthetic fabrics have taken a back seat this season, and Pune’s fashion-conscious crowd seems well aware of it.

Summer wardrobes are increasingly centred around cotton shirts, linen co-ord sets, tank tops, sleeveless blouses, and soft kurtis that can effortlessly transition from office commutes to evening outings.

“People have recently been drawn towards cotton and linen fabrics,” says Vivek Bankar, a shopkeeper at Morya For Men in Undri.

The trend is hardly surprising. Lightweight natural fabrics offer comfort, breathability, and relief from the city’s rising temperatures.

Colour palettes are equally summer-friendly. Neutral shades such as beige, white, sage green, powder blue, and washed black are dominating daytime looks, reflecting a preference for understated elegance over attention-grabbing fashion.

Pune’s style this season seems to be guided less by “Look at me” and more by “This is comfortable.”
Street Shopping Continues to Shape Summer Fashion
If there is one thing that remains constant among Pune’s younger generation, it is their love for street shopping.

For many, browsing local markets carries just as much appeal as visiting shopping malls — if not more. Camp’s fashion streets and MG Road continue to attract shoppers looking for affordable yet trendy additions to their wardrobes.

The result is a generation that values individuality as much as trends. Today’s shoppers are increasingly focused on styling and self-expression rather than simply purchasing what is popular.

That mindset plays a significant role in defining Pune’s summer fashion landscape. The city’s style is effortless, but never accidental; comfortable, yet distinctly personal.

As another hot summer unfolds, Pune’s wardrobes reflect the city’s personality itself — practical, relaxed, creative, and unapologetically authentic.
