ESIC Extends Unemployment Allowance Scheme Upto June 30, 2022
New Delhi, 11th September 2021: Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced the extension of ‘Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana’ till 30 June 2022. This is a scheme for unemployment allowance paid at 50 per cent of wages for three months to those insured persons who lose their jobs for any reason.
Along with this, two new 100 bedded Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospitals will be set up at Harohalli and Narsapur in Karnataka. Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav(Member of Rajya Sabha) has announced many important decisions at the 185th meeting of ESIC. Besides, seven new dispensaries were also approved for Kerala.
The Minister said, “that under the guidance and guidelines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is committed for targeted delivery of services by ensuring immediate access to services to the last person”.
The meeting also decided that wherever in house facilities are not available in ESIC hospitals then patients would be referred to empaneled private medical service providers.
Wherever any ESI facility is at a distance of more than 10 kilometers from the patients, then the patients can directly approach the empaneled hospitals for treatment. In the meeting, one 30 bedded hospital was also approved for Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
A dedicated earmarked fund was also approved to provide for long term liabilities for the ESIC Covid relief scheme. The meeting also approved that the ESIC Dental College working from temporary structures at Rohini, Delhi would be shifted to a new building at the ESIC Hospital Basaidarapur campus.
