Ex-Director Of Intelligence Bureau VG Vaidya Passes Away In Pune

Pune, 11th November 2021: Former Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Vidyadhar Govind Vaidya passed away today due to old age and prolonged illness.

He was born in Burhanpur on 22nd January 1936. He was an alumnus of Patwardhan High School and Institute of Science, Nagpur. He also served as lecturer in Mathematics at the Institute of science before joining the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1958.

He later retired as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau after an illustrious tenure of 36 years in 1994. He is the recipient of President’s Police Medal for illustrious service and retired as the Senior most Police Officer of the country. He is also the recipient of Presidents Police Medal and the Indian Police Medal too.

He breathed his last today at 06.24 am. He is survived by his wife and two sons Avinash Vaidya (Nagpur) and Tushar Vaidya (Sharjah).
