Faraskhana Police and Crime Branch Bust Two-Wheeler Theft Gang, Recover 14 Stolen Vehicles

Pune, 1st March 2025: The Faraskhana Police and the Crime Branch’s Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad have arrested vehicle thieves responsible for stealing two-wheelers from various parts of Pune city. The police have recovered 14 stolen two-wheelers and one bicycle from the accused.

One of the arrested suspects has been identified as Akash Heru Kunchan (26), a resident of Bata Galli, Budhwar Peth. Investigations revealed that Kunchan was involved in multiple vehicle thefts, not just within the Faraskhana police station limits but also in rural areas.

Police personnel Vaibhav Swami, Mahesh Rathod, and Praveen Pasalkar received information about Kunchan’s whereabouts in Dhamdhere Galli, Budhwar Peth. Based on this tip-off, the police team set a trap and apprehended him.

During interrogation, Kunchan confessed to the thefts. The police recovered four stolen two-wheelers and a bicycle from him. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill. The team included Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme, Crime Branch Inspector Ajit Jadhav, Assistant Inspector Vaibhav Gaikwad, Sub-Inspector Arvind Shinde, and other officers, who played a crucial role in the investigation.

Second Arrest in Two-Wheeler Theft Case

In a separate operation, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad arrested two more vehicle thieves who had been stealing two-wheelers from different parts of Pune and surrounding areas. The arrested suspects have been identified as:

Riyaz alias Dadya Shardul Sheikh (21), a resident of Pashan
Anil Lingayya Bhandari (34), a resident of Sutarwadi, Pashan

The police recovered ten stolen two-wheelers from their possession, worth approximately ₹5.6 lakh. Investigations revealed that the duo was involved in vehicle thefts across Mundhwa, Hadapsar, Baner, Kothrud, Sangvi (Pimpri-Chinchwad), Shirgaon Parandwadi, and within the limits of Rajgad Police Station (Pune Rural Police Force).

This operation was successfully executed by Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Bidwai, Assistant Inspector Praveen Kalukhe, Amit Gadre, Balu Gaikwad, Ajit Shinde, Manisha Pukale, Pradeep Rathod, and Ganesh Dhage.
