Farmers Movement: Maharashtra Government Names BJP IT Cell, Celebrities Under Investigation

Mumbai, February 15, 2021: The Maharashtra government is investigating the tweets of big celebrities, including Bollywood celebrities, who have been continuously following the tweet by International pop star singer Rihanna in support of the farmers’ movement.
Today, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the investigation has revealed the names of 12 heads of BJP’s IT Cell and influential people. However, Deshmukh took the name of the head of the IT cell, he did not call out the names of the remaining 11 people.
Deshmukh said that my statement was subverted. I said that the IT cell of the BJP should be investigated.
That after the response of the Foreign Ministry to the tweet of foreign celebrities about the farmer movement, many celebrities including Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Lata Mangeshkar, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had tweeted. In these tweets, they also posted hashtags India Together and India Against Propaganda. Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar have also been honored with ‘Bharat Ratna’.
The Maharashtra government then directed the Intelligence Department to investigate against these tweets. These tweets were reported by Congress and alleged that most tweets had the same pattern. State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh assured the Congress delegation that the Intelligence Department of Maharashtra Police would investigate the tweets of Indian celebrities and find out if there was any pressure from the BJP for such tweets.
In fact, several other foreign celebrities tweeted after pop star singer Rihanna made a tweet in support of the farmers’ movement. After this, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement stating that facts should be examined before making any hasty comments. At the same time, soon after, many celebrities in India started tweeting throughout the day.
Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, “India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised in any manner. External forces can witness, but cannot participate in it.”
