Fatal Accidents Claims Two Lives Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Many Injured
Mumbai/Pune, 10th December 2023: In the past few days, a surge in accidents on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway has left a trail of casualties. On December 9, two separate incidents occurred, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives and leaving 11 individuals injured.
In the first incident, a fatal collision unfolded around midnight on Saturday when a milk tanker collided with a car on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The tanker driver succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The accident, which occurred at approximately midnight, prompted a swift response from local authorities and residents.
Upon receiving information about the incident, emergency personnel, along with police and residents, worked collaboratively to extricate the driver. A crane was employed to break the cabin of the tanker, facilitating the rescue operation. The unfortunate incident led to a temporary traffic jam as authorities worked to clear the scene.
In the early hours of December 9, 2023, when a private bus en route from Mumbai to Kolhapur met with a severe accident on the Mumbai-Pune express route at around 3:00 AM. The bus driver lost his life, and 11 passengers sustained injuries in the crash.
Prompt medical response saw the injured promptly transported to hospitals in Khopoli and Panvel for treatment. The incident, occurring at 3:00 AM, resulted in a challenging situation as emergency services and locals collaborated to ensure swift medical attention to those affected.
Efforts were made to manage the situation, with 15 to 20 passengers on the bus. Some were transferred to another bus to continue their journey. The aftermath of the accident led to a temporary disruption in traffic flow.
