Fatal Accidents Surge in Pune: Five Dead, Several Injured in Recent Crashes

Pune, 17th June 2024: Accidental deaths continue to rise in Pune district. Over the past three days, three accidents in the Pimpri Chinchwad area have resulted in two fatalities and one serious injury, while three fatal accidents in the Pune city area have led to three deaths. These incidents occurred within the jurisdictions of Talegaon Dabhade, Bhosari, and Wakad Police Stations under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), and under the Bharati Vidyapeeth, Lonikand, and Warje Malwadi Police Stations under the Pune Police Commissionerate.
Mahindra Thar Kills One in Talegaon
Near Hotel Kasanova Inn on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway in Talegaon, a Mahindra Thar, driven recklessly and without following traffic rules, struck a man on a two-wheeler, resulting in his death. The deceased has been identified as Veerbhadra Ramrao Shirole (38, resident of Warale, Maval), who was accompanied by a friend who sustained serious injuries. Shirole’s wife has complained to the Talegaon Dabhade Police Station, and a case of death by negligence has been registered against the driver, Mayur Sakhare (30, resident of Hinjawadi), who hasn’t yet been arrested.
Minor Killed by Private Bus in Bhosari
A minor was killed by a private bus in Bhosari’s Gavjatra Maidan. The child’s father reported the incident to the Bhosari Police Station. According to reports, the bus driver was moving the bus out of a parking area in the dark and ran over the child, resulting in the minor’s death. The bus driver has been ‘nominally’ arrested by Bhosari Police, and a case of death by negligence has been registered against him.
Bus Runs Over Pedestrian’s Legs in Wakad
A private bus hit a pedestrian while attempting to cross the road at Dange Chowk, Thergaon. The victim, identified as Nilesh Gyanshin Inwati (32), sustained serious injuries as the bus ran over his legs. Police Constable Baban Berad has complained to Wakad Police Station. A case of rash driving has been registered against the driver, Anil Jagan Teli (47, resident of Jalgaon), who has not yet been arrested. Inwati is currently receiving medical treatment.
Three Accidents Under the Pune Police Commissionerate
1. A 26-year-old woman named Shweta Limkar died in an accident involving two buses. A case has been registered against the bus driver at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, but he has not been arrested yet.
2. Under the jurisdiction of Lonikand Police Station, a two-wheeler rider collided with a 12-year-old minor, resulting in the minor’s death. The rider has not been arrested yet.
3. A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus driver hit and killed a senior citizen, identified as Vasant Laxman Tikone, at the Warje Malwadi Police Station. A case has been registered, but no arrests have been made.
