Balasore, 12th July 2023: In a devastating incident near Bahanaga railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district, a triple train collision has resulted in the suspension of seven railway employees. The collision claimed the lives of a staggering 294 people, while more than 1,175 individuals were left injured.

The South-Eastern Railway General Manager, Anil Kumar Mishra, has taken immediate action by suspending all seven employees, including the three accused who are currently in remand. The suspensions were enforced due to the employees’ alleged dereliction of duty, as they failed to exhibit the necessary alertness during their assigned hours.

Addressing the media, General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra stated, “The CBI has apprehended three staff members thus far. Presently, a total of seven individuals, including the station master, traffic inspector, and maintainer, have been suspended for their lack of vigilance during duty hours. Had they been more attentive, this tragic train mishap could have been averted.”
