Pune, 25 July 2020: As Pune is battling every day with increasing numbers of Coronavirus Disease (COVID19) cases, Pune City Police are at the forefront of it. Even under this difficult time and knowing the risk of infection, the city police officials are fearlessly standing strong as warriors. In such times, Vaishnavi Mahila Unnati Sanstha from Pune has handed over 3,000 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to Pune City Police.

The police have direct contact with many citizens daily. Police are more likely to be infected with the Coronavirus through this contact. Many policemen are also getting infected while performing their daily duties. In such a situation, it is necessary to supply more and more protective gears to the police personnel for their safety. Out of 247 cops who were COVID positive, 177 have recovered while three have died. Others are still undergoing treatment.

On July 22, Rajshri Nagne Patil, president of Vaishnavi Mahila Unnati Sanstha, Pune handed over the PPE kits to Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham.

“The support given by Vaishnavi Mahila Unnati Sanstha to the Pune City Police is commendable. Given the present situation, other organizations should also come forward and help government agencies working for COVID management”, said Dr Venkatesham.
