Finolex Industries Ltd. and Mukul Madhav Foundation facilitate ‘Special Children’s Ward’ in Sawali Care Center
Kolhapur, November 25th 2017:In a bid to provide modern health care facilities Finolex Industries Ltd. along with its CSR arm Mukul Madhav Foundation today announced the opening of additional facility at Sawali Care Center, Kolhapur, which includes the ‘Special Children’s Ward’.
The 20-bedded ward equipped with special needs was inaugurated in the presence of
Shri. Devendra Fadnavis – Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Also, present on this auspicious occasion were Shri. Chandrakantdada Patil – Revenue Minister of Maharashtra,
Mr. Sanjay Math – Managing Director of Finolex Industries.
Amongst many generous donors, Finolex Industries Ltd. &Mukul Madhav Foundation provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs.25 lakh towards the Special Children’s Ward of Sawali Care Centre on 14th September 2017. The construction of the Special Children’s ward has been completed which cancater to 20 children with special needs from the areas of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Belgaum and Konkan region. Mukul Madhav Foundation also brought in Hinduja Foundation on board wherein Hinduja Foundation donated Rs. 10 lakh towards building a ‘Physiotherapy Center’ at Sawali Care Center encouraging this cause. This is an extension of the work done by Finolex Industries Ltd. and Mukul Madhav Foundation in the area of restoring proper lifestyle and leading a normal life in the mainstream society for children suffering from Cerebral Palsy in the region. The organizationtill date has effectively treated and reached out to 772 children from Satara and Ratnagiri.
The centre, located in Kolhapur is a specialized healthcare centre that caters to old, handicapped and mentally challenged people who lack basic healthcare at home. Established in 2004, Sawali Care Centre has been designed as a holistic unit with centralised amenities ranging from nursing to doctor consultation to proper meals and recreational activities for its residents.
Sawali Care Centre is the only institute in South Maharashtra that helps and provides treatment and care for the elderly bed-riddenpatients. With the new developmentthe centre will now support children with special needs too. Specialized child care centres in the heart of Maharashtra are limited, whereas there have been reports that vast number of children are unable to get proper attention and care at home. This new children’s ward aims to provide not only medical and rehabilitation facility to these children, but also a homely atmosphere aiding in the overall wellbeing of the child.
Finolex Industries Ltd. and Mukul Madhav Foundation have been working majorly in Maharashtra contributing in various CSR activities. They have been carrying out many CSR initiatives in Kolhapur; however this is their first initiative towards a major institution in this city.
On the occasion, Mrs. Ritu Chhabria, Director- Finolex Industries Ltd. and Managing Trustee- Mukul Madhav Foundation said, “Sawali Care Centre has got people together and brought them on to a bigger platform with an aim to provide best possible care to the patients. We along with other corporates believe in working with people having similar mind-set and Sawali Care Center understands what we do. They are doing excellent work providing ahospice which is one of its kind catering to patients of all ages. Finolex Industries Ltd. and Mukul Madhav Foundation are always more than willing to improve basic infrastructure and healthcare facilities in hospitals, care centres & schools. Sawali Care Centre is another such extension of the work and reiterates our commitment towards making the society a better place to live for one and all. The ward is dedicated to my late father-in-law Shri PP Chhabria ji who always taught us to do our bit in whichever way possible for the society at large. We hope our small contribution will help children to get best facilities and a healing environment.”
