First ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ national competition witness 1500 doctor-players form all over country !!

Pune, 28th November 2023: More than 1500 doctor-players have registered their participation in the country’s first ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ national competition organized by Young Doctors League (YDL). The tournament will be held in Pune from November 30th to December 3rd, 2023 comprising a total of 11 sports, both team and individual.

Indian Doctors Olympics (IDL) Committee President Dr. Nachiket Mahindrakar and Secretary Dr. Amit Dravid said that, Cricket, football, volleyball and throw-ball as team sports and individual sports like badminton, tennis, athletics, carom, chess, table-tennis, lawn-tennis will be played in this Olympic competition. The matches of ‘Indian Doctors Olympics’ will be held at various venues like Sri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex-Balewadi, PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Deccan Gymkhana Club, Vision Cricket Academy-Singhgarh Road, Scaleup Academy Maidan-Warje, DSK Star Cricket Academy-Dhairi and Shinde High School-Sahkarnagar.

The competition will be inaugurated by MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde. On this occasion MLA and President of Pune District Football Association Dr. Vishwajit Kadam, badminton player and Olympian Nikhil Kanetkar, national tennis player Sandeep Kirtane and Mayor of Pune Muralidhar Mohol, Dr. Bhushan Mangaonkar and Parag Deshmukh from Siram Institute of India are the dignitaries will grace the occasion. The inauguration ceremony will be held on Friday, December 1, at 11 am at Sri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex-Balewadi.

Coordination Committee Dr. Nitin Gadkari and Dr. Sandeep Patil said that more than 1500 doctors in the country have participated in team and individual sports. It mainly consists of MBBS doctors along with BAMS, BUMS and BDS doctors. It has about 1200 male and 300 female doctors. 40 men’s teams have participated in the cricket tournament. Teams from Karnataka, from Maharashtra 15 teams from Pune, Ahmednagar, Baramati, Solapur, Marathwada, Akluj, Ratnagiri, Mumbai, Thane, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Miraj have participated. 5 teams from Pune have participated in women’s group.

10 teams from Pune, Mumbai and Karnataka have participated in the football event. A total of 10 teams from Pune, Ahmednagar, Marathwada, Kolhapur have participated in volleyball. 5 teams from Pune have participated in women’s throw-ball.

About 900 doctors from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Telangana have participated in individual sports. 300 men and women doctors have participated in Badminton. 180 doctors have participated in table tennis, 100 in lawn tennis, 100 in athletics, 100 in swimming, 200 in chess and 200 in carrom.
