First Round of Class 11 Admissions Announced: Over 6.32 Lakh Students Allotted Colleges, Majority Get First Choice
Pune, 28th June 2025: The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced the much-awaited first selection list for the Class 11 online centralized admission process (CAP) across Maharashtra. In this round, a total of 6,32,194 students have secured admission, with 4,57,841 students receiving their first-choice college, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Students allotted colleges in this round can confirm their admission between June 30 and July 7 by reporting to the respective junior colleges.
Delayed Announcement Due to Technical Issues
Originally scheduled for June 26, the release of the first selection list was delayed due to technical glitches in the system. As a result, the Directorate had to revise the schedule, with the list finally being released on June 29. Director of Education Dr. Mahesh Palkar provided details of the revised process and outcomes.
Stream-Wise Admission Breakdown
The stream-wise breakup of admissions reveals the following:
Science Stream: Out of 6,09,718 applicants, 3,42,801 students secured admission
Commerce Stream: Out of 2,23,931 applicants, 1,39,602 students got selected
Arts Stream: Out of 2,31,356 applicants, 1,39,791 students were allotted seats
These numbers reflect a strong preference for the science stream, though arts and commerce also saw significant participation.
Most Students Allotted First-Choice Colleges
The first round results show that over 72% of students were allotted one of their top three college preferences:
4,57,841 students got their first-choice college
77,099 students received their second-choice
36,901 students were allotted their third-choice
Dr. Palkar emphasized that students allotted their first-choice college must confirm their admission within the stipulated window, or they will be barred from participating in the next CAP rounds.
Statewide Admission Scenario
The overall picture of Class 11 admissions in the state is as follows:
12,71,210 students registered for the admission process
These students applied for 21,23,720 seats across 9,435 schools and junior colleges
Of these, 16,60,084 seats are available under centralized admission (CAP)
An additional 4,63,636 seats fall under various quota categories
So far, 60,487 students have already secured admission under management, minority, and institutional quotas.
Department Faces Criticism for Delay
The Education Department has faced criticism for the delay in the admission process, especially since it has been more than a month since the Class 10 results were declared. However, officials say the process is now on track and subsequent rounds will proceed smoothly.
Next Steps for Students
Students whose names appear in the first list should:
Visit their allotted junior college between June 30 and July 7
Submit the necessary documents and complete the admission formalities
Ensure they follow the deadlines to retain their seat and eligibility
Further CAP rounds will be conducted for students who did not receive any allotment or were not allotted their preferred college choices.
