Five Dead And Three Injured In Accident On Pune-Mumbai Expressway
Khandala, 18th November 2022: On Mumbai-Pune Expressway, near Km 37 on the Khandala Ghat ramp, an Ertiga car met with a terrible accident around midnight. Five people died, and three were injured. A woman survived the accident.
Abdul Rahman Khan (32, Ghatkopar), Anil Sunil Sanap, Wasim Sajid Kazi (Rajapur, District Ratnagiri), Rahul Kumar Pandey (30, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai), and Ashutosh Navnath Gadekar (23, Mhatarpada, Mumbai) died. Machindra Ambore (38- driver), Amirullah Chaudhary, and Deepak Khairal were injured, and Asfia Rais Chaudhary (25, Kurla, Mumbai) sustained minor injury.
According to the information received, Ertiga car no. (MH 14 EC 3501) had the driver plus eight passengers traveling from Pune to Mumbai. When the said car reached Km 37.00 on the Expressway in the limits of Dheku village, the driver lost control of the car and collided with an unknown vehicle from behind. The impact was so strong that four people travelling in it died on the spot. One woman sustained minor injuries and four others were taken to MGM Hospital Kamothe with serious injuries. One individual died during treatment. Driver and others are undergoing treatment.
IRB Patrolling, Devdoot team, Borghat Traffic Police, Khopoli Police, Delta Force, Lokmanya Hospital and members of social organizations arrived on the spot for assistance. The accident occurred within the limits of Khopoli Police Station, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Khalapur Taluka Sanjay Shukla, Police Inspector Shirish Pawar, Police Sub-Inspector Yogesh Bhosle, and others visited the accident site. Further investigation is going on.
