Five Persons Killed In Accident On Mumbai-Pune Highway

Karla, 30th January 2022: Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a truck near Shilatane village on the old Mumbai-Pune highway today morning. The four who died in the accident are originally from Haryana and currently resided in the Mira Road area of ​​Thane district, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Shalini Rupnarayan Tilok (20), Seema Kisan Raj (36), Masidevi Nathuram Tilok (65), Mahavir Kishan Tilok (44), all present residents of Shanti Park, Mira Road, Thane District, and Rihan Rizwan Ansari (30), a resident of Bilal Masjid, Gol Darwaza, Mumbai.

According to Pune rural police, Masidevi was ill. She was being taken to a hospital in Nipani (Karnataka) for treatment in a car. Around 8.30 am after crossing the Karla on the Mumbai-Pune highway, driver Ansari lost control over the wheels and the car jumped the divider and collided with a container truck heading towards Mumbai. The car was crushed in the accident.

After getting information, police, IRB, local villagers rushed to the spot and shifted the passengers to the hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

After the accident, the road leading to Mumbai was jammed for some time.
