Pune, 31st March 2025: A 28-year-old woman has accused the son of a former BJP corporator from Vadgaon Budruk of raping her under the pretense of marriage and forcing her to undergo an abortion. The victim lodged a complaint at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, detailing her ordeal.

According to the police, the victim met the accused at a gym in 2021, and their friendship soon turned into a romantic relationship. He frequently visited her home, but when she brought up marriage, he avoided the topic. Suspecting his involvement with other women, she confronted him, leading to verbal abuse and physical assault, after which she distanced herself from him.

In December 2022, the accused contacted her again, threatening to harm her family if she refused to meet him. When she reported this to his mother, a former corporator, she received threats instead of support.

The accused later reconnected with her, promising marriage, and allegedly raped her. He later claimed his family opposed their marriage and forced her to take abortion pills. In 2024, he allegedly raped her again under similar pretenses, resulting in another pregnancy. When she informed her family, heated arguments ensued.

On February 16, 2025, the accused took her to Alandi and married her. Despite knowing she was pregnant, he allegedly assaulted her again and later gave her abortion pills mixed with water. Fearing for her safety, she sought refuge with her grandmother in Ahilyanagar.

On March 13, she returned to Pune and filed a police complaint. The case is currently under investigation.
