Free Education Offered to Dhangar Community Students in Pune

Pune, 10th May 2024: Four schools have been chosen to offer free education to students from the Dhangar community in esteemed English Medium Boarding Schools across the Pune district. Eligible students are encouraged to avail themselves of this opportunity.

To ensure that students from the Dhangar community are not left behind in higher education and can adapt to evolving educational environments, they have been sanctioned for education in prestigious residential English medium schools under the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department of the Maharashtra State Government. Through this initiative, the government provides education, lodging, meals, and other amenities to students for free.

The four selected schools for education under this scheme are JR Gunjal English Medium School and Junior College in Alephata, Junnar, Sahyadri Public School in Waghalwadi, Baramati, S.B.Patil Public School in Vangali, Indapur and Shree Venkateshwara English Medium School in WalchandNagar, Indapur.

Sangita Davkhar, Assistant Director of the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, has urged students whose parents’ income is less than 1 lakh rupees, as well as widows, divorcees, destitute individuals, abandoned children, and those from families below the poverty line, to enroll in these schools and avail themselves of the scheme.
