Pune: “Indian Medical Association can play important role in developing healthcare sector in Pune city in creating Pune as smart city. Pune Smart City Development Corporation ltd will use the knowledge and expertise from the renowned doctors from IMA in projects like smart Clinic, Mass treatment and heath disaster management.” Said Dr. Rajendra Jagtap CEO and Executive Director Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd. in the installation ceremony of Indian Medical Association Pune branch and the office bearers.

Dr. Sanjay Patil took charge as the new President for year 2019-20 from President Dr. Padma Iyer. Dr. Raju Varyani and Dr. Rajan Sancheti have been elected as secretary IMA Pune branch. Dr. Rajendra Jagtap, CEO and Executive Director Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. Dr. Avinash Bhondwe, President Elect IMA Maharashtra and Dr. Suhas Pingle, Hon. Secretary IMA Maharashtra, Dr. Avinash Bhutkar, Chairman Trust Board, IMA Pune and Dr. Jayant Navarange, Executive Trustee, IMA Pune were also present at the occasion.

On this occasion India Medical Association, Pune Branch bestowed IMA Pune Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Arun Halbe for the recognition of his work in organ and body donation, IMA Pune Community & Social Award to Dr. Ranjit Jagtap for his Charitable work in pediatric heart surgery, IMA Pune Young Achiever Award to Dr. Pravin Patil for excellence in the field of Rheumatology and IMA Pune Late Dr. M G Shahade Memorial Award for Excellence in Academics and Research to Dr. Shreekant B. Kelkar for his dedicated work in eye care treatment.

Newly elected president Dr. Sanjay Patil said “IMA Pune has a rich legacy of 90 years. Whatever the organization is today is a result of the dedication and the hard work done by our seniors throughout these years. I feel very proud to be the president of such a great organization which created impact on medical community in positive way. In shouldering the responsibility as a president of IMA Pune I will put all the efforts in the service of this association.”

He further said that “ In coming year we are planning to organize CPR training sessions for non medical people like PMT employees, Policemen, fire fighters and newspapers vendors. We will also work on some vibrant Helth care issues like nurse training, insurance and TPA. For the first time we would like involve common people and students in our projects like anti tobacco, organ donation, blood donation and health awareness. Their support will help us to create awareness.” He introduced the new team as I.P.P Dr. Padma Iyer, President Elect. Dr. Aarti Nimkar, Vice President Dr. B. L. Deshmukh, Treasurer Dr. Meenakshi Deshpande, Jt. Secretary Dr. Gauri Oka, Asst. Sec./Jt. Treasurer Dr. Ashutosh Jape.

On this occasion Dr. Avinsha Bhondwe Elect president IMA Maharashtra State said, “IMA the organization founded for the academic purposes but considering the challenges coming in front of Allopathic media industry the organization need to working as union of Doctors which can influence decision makers.”

Indian Medical Association in the association with Sahyadri Hospital organized a CME on Oncology on this occasion where Dr. CharudattaApte, Dr. Shona Nag Dr. Mandar Kulkarni, Dr. Joy Ghosh, Dr. Tahir and Dr. GayatriAchuthan delivered their speeches on various subjects related to Oncology.

Dr. Meenakshi Deshpande and Dr. Raju Varyani did anchoring of the programme and Dr. Rajan Sancheti delivered the vote of thanks.
