“Gaddar”: Shiv Sena Workers Vandalize Mumbai Hotel Over Kunal Kamra’s Remarks on Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, 24th March 2025: A comedy show by stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra sparked outrage among Shiv Sena workers, leading to vandalism at a hotel in Khar on Sunday. The controversy erupted after Kamra made a satirical remark about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, referring to him as a “traitor.”
According to police sources, a group of Shiv Sena workers stormed Hotel Unicontinental, where the show was recorded, and damaged property in protest. They also gathered at Khar Police Station, demanding an FIR against Kamra for his comments.
Kamra, known for his sharp political satire, altered lyrics from a popular Bollywood song to take a jibe at Shinde. The clip of his performance quickly went viral, drawing both support and criticism.
Reacting to the video, Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske issued a strong warning to the comedian, stating, “Wherever you go, we will chase you. If needed, you will be forced to leave the country.”
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut shared the video on social media platform X, captioning it “Kunal Ka Kamal” in apparent approval of the comedian’s remarks.
Condemning the attack on the hotel, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray criticized Shinde’s supporters, calling their actions an attempt to suppress free speech. “A bunch of cowards attacked the comedy show’s stage because of a song on Eknath Shinde. Only someone insecure would react like this,” Thackeray posted on X.
He also took a swipe at the state government’s handling of law and order, adding, “Where is the law and order in Maharashtra? This is yet another attempt to undermine the Chief Minister and Home Minister by Eknath Mindhe.”
Thackeray often refers to Shinde as “Mindhe”, a Marathi term implying subservience, to mock him.
