Ganeshotsav 2025: Pune Police Enforce Dhol-Tasha Limit, DJ Ban for Tilak Road Visarjan; Procession to End by Midnight
Sadashiv Peth, 9th August 2025: The Tilak Road Ganeshotsav Visarjan Procession Committee, in coordination with Pune Police, has announced a series of measures aimed at ensuring smooth and safe Ganesh immersion processions this year. The procession on Tilak Road will conclude by midnight, in line with demands from participating Ganeshotsav Mandals to wrap up the event earlier.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Milind Mohite, along with members of the Tilak Road Visarjan Procession Committee, inspected the immersion route on Friday afternoon. The inspection was attended by Police Inspector Yashwant Nikam (Swargate Police Station), Police Inspector (Crime) Sharmila Sutar (Khadak Police Station), Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare (Vishrambaug Police Station), and representatives from several mandals including Sane Guruji Tarun Mandal President Dheeraj Ghate, Seva Mitra Mandal President Shirish Mohite, Pushkar Tuljapurkar (Nehru Tarun Mandal), Ganesh Ghosh (Darshan Mitra Mandal), Umesh Vaidya (Satyaveer Mitra Mandal), and Vinayak Dharne (Subhashnagar Madiwale Colony Mitra Mandal).
Key decisions include allowing only one to two dhol-tasha teams per mandal, with a maximum of 30 dhols, and banning both drum and DJ playing at Jedhe Chowk and Puram Chowk. Vendors will be relocated to internal roads instead of the main route to reduce congestion and accident risks.
According to the plan, the procession from Jedhe Chowk must end within five hours, while the one from Puram Chowk should conclude within four hours. Internal roads connecting to the main route will be barricaded, and participating mandals must follow only the designated roads for which they have passes.
“These measures are aimed at better crowd management, timely completion of the immersion procession, and ensuring the safety of devotees,” said DCP Milind Mohite.
