Gangster Vikas Dubey killed in encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police in Kanpur

Kanpur, 10 July 2020: Notorious gangster Vikas Dubey, caught outside the Mahakal temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh yesterday, died in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Kanpur today. Dubey, the main accused in the murder of eight policemen including CO in Bikeru village of Chaubepur in Kanpur, had an encounter with the STF in Kanpur. Dubey received two bullets, one on the chest and the other in the waist.

Kanpur SSP Dinesh Kumar P and IG Mohit Agarwal also reached to inspect the encounter site near Kanhaiya Lal Hospital in Sachhendi area in Kanpur. Kanpur SSP Dinesh P has confirmed the death of Vikas Dubey in the encounter.

According to SSP Dinesh Kumar P, after the vehicle overturned, Dubey was running away with the weapon of a policeman. When the police tried to stop him, he opened fire and in retaliation, the dreaded criminal Dubey was killed in an encounter.

SSP Dinesh Kumar P said that some vehicles were behind the convoy of the police vehicle bringing Dubey from Ujjain. They were constantly chasing the convoy of the police. Due to this, an attempt was made to drive the car faster. There was heavy rain also and the police van overturned. Dubey was trying to run away by taking advantage of the opportunity. The firing took place and Vikas Dubey was shot in self-defence.

When the Special Task Force team of UP moved the main accused of Kanpur shootout from Madhya Pradesh, media vehicles were chasing him since then. During this time media vehicles were also behind till Kanpur, but media vehicles were stopped and checked at one place till about one kilometer from the encounter site. Soon after, there was news of the overturning of the vehicle involved in the convoy of STF.
