German Teacher Conference held in Pune

Goethe-Institut Pune in association with InDaf (Indo-German Teachers Association) organized their German Language Teachers Conference on the Topic “Teaching German as a foreign Language: digital, creative and interactive”recently at Goethe-Institut in Pune, which is happening every two years. 150 German Language Teachers from Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra participated in the 2 day conference. Around 30 workshops based on the above mentioned topic were conducted by German and Indian trainers during the conference

Workshops like Teaching Grammar in a digital and interactive way; Interactive White Boards: Interactive digitalization; Promoting speaking skills in the German classroom- current trends; Teaching German as a foreign language the creative and innovative way were part of the many that were presented during the whole conference.

On 4th February an evening Reception was held at Goethe-Institut Pune which was graced by the presence of Dr. Jürgen Morhard – Consul General of the Republic of Germany, Prof. Dr.Pramod Talgeri – Honorary President of InDaf and Mr. Jochen Dill – Project Head – Educational Services, Goethe-Institut South Asia. The reception was a blend of Indian and German traditions to honor the close connections between both in Pune.

On 5th February the Opening Ceremony of the Conference took place at the hands of Ms. Heidi Wetz-Kubach – Director Goethe-Institut Pune; Mr. Jochen Dill – Project Head of Educational Services, Goethe-Institut South Asia and Ms. Puneet Kaur – President – InDaf. A panel discussion on the Topic: Digitalisation: Teaching German as a Foreign Language – new opportunities for students and Stress for Teachers?moderated by Andrea Walter – Regional Project Head for PASCH (Schools: Partners for the Future)was held as the key-note. Dr. Anette Kühn, Dr. Tamara Zeyer, Ms. Puneet Kaur and Dr. Janaki Narkar-Waldraff were part of the discussion wherein they presented their views on various teaching methods being used to implement digitalization in classroom teaching, the opportunities and challenges.

DAAD(German Academic Exchange service)and ProRecognition presented the latest updates on higher studies and job opportunities in Germany. Teachers gathered useful information which could be passed forward to students who wish to take higher education and pursue their career options in Germany.
