New Delhi, 22nd July 2022: One of the most esteemed colleges in India is the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Aside from producing engineers of the highest caliber, IITs have also given rise to some amazing authors, composers, comedians, politicians, bureaucrats, policymakers, civil officials, creators, and performers.

Generations of IIT students have been inspired by successful graduates, including top CEOs, renowned scientists, young businesspeople, and unconventional performers. The main takeaway is that if you dare to dream, the world will admire you.

Here are ten IItians who are successfully thriving in different fields:

  • Sundar Pichai: Sundar Pichai was born in Madras, and graduated with a degree in metallurgical engineering from IIT Kharagpur. After relocating to the US, he earned an M.S. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University and then went on to earn an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognized as a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar, respectively. On August 10, 2015, Pichai was chosen to succeed Larry Page as Google’s CEO after previously serving as the company’s Product Chief.

  • Arvind Kejriwal: The Aam Aadmi Party was founded by Arvind Kejriwal (AAP). He is Delhi’s 7th Chief Minister since February 2015 and is a politician and a bureaucrat. He received a mechanical engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur). He also worked as a Joint Commissioner of the Income Tax Department for the Indian Revenue Service in New Delhi.
  • Chetan Bhagat: Chetan Bhagat is a writer and columnist. In 2010, he was listed among the top 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. Bhagat earned a BTech in mechanical engineering in 1995 at IIT Delhi. After that, Bhagat pursued a master’s in business administration in marketing at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), where he eventually earned his degree in 1997.
  • Jitendra Kumar: Jitendra Kumar, also known as Jitu, is a well-known IIT alumni who have achieved success in the acting industry. He recently appeared alongside Ayushmann Khurana in ‘Shubh Mangal Jyada Savdhan.’ He completed his B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur.
  • Raghuram Rajan: From September 2013 to September 2016, Raghuram Govind Rajan was the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. From 2003 to 2006, Rajan held the positions of Director of Research and Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund. He also assumed the position of vice chairman of the Indian Reserve Bank in 2015 while serving as vice chairman of the Bank for International Settlements. He enrolled in the mechanical engineering bachelor’s program at IIT Delhi in 1981. When he graduated in 1985, he was recognized as the best all-around student with the Director’s Gold Medal.
  • Shashanka Ala: Shashanka is an IIT Madras alumni and now she is a renowned IAS officer. She is a deputy commissioner posted in Mizoram, determined to fight malnutrition in her district.
  • Devendra Purbiya: Devendra is an IIT Kharagpur alumni. He pursued Computer Science while at IIT. He is now one of India’s most renowned photographers.
  • Vipul Goyal: At IIT-Bombay, Vipul studied electrical engineering. He is also among IIT-best Bombay’s former students. Another well-known name in stand-up comedy is Vipul Goyal, who began his career in the entertainment industry after graduating from IIT Bombay. He is one of India’s top comedians and also portrays the lead character in the web series Humorously Yours.
  • Vinod Khosla: Vinod Khosla is an investor, entrepreneur, and technologist who co-founded Sun Microsystems and Khosla Ventures. He received his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. According to Forbes, Khosla was one of the 400 richest Americans in 2014.
  • Deepinder Goyal: Deepinder Goyal is the founder and CEO of India’s biggest food delivery app Zomato. He completed his graduation from IIT Delhi back in 2005 with a degree in Mathematics and Computing.
