Gita Saar to Kakori Train Action: Children Steal the Show at Ganga Nebula Society Ganeshotsav in Viman Nagar
Pune, 19th September 2026: Ganeshotsav at Ganga Nebula Society in Viman Nagar turned into a vibrant celebration of faith, culture and community spirit, bringing residents of all ages together through religious ceremonies, cultural programmes and performances by children.
The annual celebration created a festive atmosphere across the society, with residents coming together to participate in prayers, cultural activities and competitions. Beyond the religious significance of the festival, the celebrations provided an opportunity for neighbours to connect, families to participate collectively and children to showcase their talents.
The festivities began with a grand procession carrying the beautifully crafted idol of Lord Ganesha through the society premises. Residents joined the procession amid traditional drum beats and enthusiastic participation, setting the tone for days of celebration.
Daily aartis were conducted by society members, with residents gathering to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
A major attraction of the celebrations was the participation of children in various cultural programmes and performances. The young participants brought energy and enthusiasm to the festivities, with their performances drawing appreciation from residents.
One of the highlights was a Gita Saar skit presented by the society’s tiny tots. Through the performance, the children attempted to convey the teachings and values of the Bhagavad Gita and their relevance in everyday life.
Their confident presentation and engaging performances resonated with the audience, turning the skit into one of the memorable moments of the celebrations.
Another notable performance was the children’s enactment of the Kakori Conspiracy, officially known as the Kakori Train Action. The historical incident took place on August 9, 1925, when members of the Hindustan Republican Association seized government funds being transported by train to support their activities during India’s freedom movement.
Through their enactment, the children brought the historic episode to life and introduced fellow residents to an important chapter of India’s freedom struggle.
The celebrations also reflected the society’s emphasis on eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, with residents promoting sustainable practices and creating awareness about the importance of environmental protection.
For residents, the festivities represented more than a traditional annual celebration. They offered a shared platform where children and adults could participate, perform, learn and celebrate together.
