Goa: Russian Woman Arrested For Using Satellite Phone
Goa, 1st February 2023: The Colva Goa Police, on Tuesday, arrested a 38-year-old Russian woman tourist for allegedly using a banned satellite phone, a senior officer stated.
According to the official, the Russian woman, Aleksey Kaminin, has been arrested for possessing and using a satellite phone named ‘Thurya’ with a SIM card. Possessing and using satellite phones is prohibited in India.
The official said the Russian woman was taken into custody from a resort where she was staying. A case has been registered against her under the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act and section 20 of the Indian Telegraph Act, while the device has been seized.
