Gold Artisan Robbed of Rs 19.94 Lakh Jewelry in Pune’s Saraf Bazaar
Pune, 7th February 2025: A gold artisan carrying jewellery worth ₹19.94 lakh was robbed in Pune’s bustling Saraf Bazaar on Thursday evening, marking the latest in a series of thefts targeting the city’s jewellery trade. Two unidentified men stole a bag containing gold ornaments after distracting the victim under the guise of asking for directions in Raviwar Peth. Chiranjit Ambika Baug (23) has lodged a complaint with the police regarding the incident.
According to police reports, the artisan was returning from work around 5:15 PM when the suspects intercepted him near Pushpam Jewellers. While engaging him in conversation, they snatched his bag and fled. Police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhosale, inspected the scene and are analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits.
