Gold for Solapur’s Jyotiba Atkale

Pune, 4 January, 2020 : A day after his brother Abasaheb clinched the 57kg gold in the mud category, Solapur’s Jyotiba Atkale clinched the mat title in the same weight category in the 63rd edition of the prestigious Maharashtra Kesari Wrestling Championships at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi-Mhalunge on Saturday.

Jyotiba, who trains at Kaka Pawar’s taleem in Katraj, defeated Ramesh Ingavle of Kolhapur 11-5.

The bronze went to Beed’s Atish Todkar and Pune’s Sanket Thakur.

In the 79kg mat final, Solapur’s Ramchandra Kamble defeated Osmanabad wrestler Ravindra Khare 14-3 in an one-sided encounter. The bronze medals were won by Ahmednagar’s Keval Bhingare and Satara’s Shridhar Mulik.

The tournament is being organised by Maharashtra State Wrestling Association and City Corporation Ltd, Develoers of Amanora Township in Pune.
