Gold Paste Concealed In A Special Cavity Formed In Underwear Seized From Passenger At Pune Airport
Pune 4th August 2023: The custom officials at Pune Airport have seized gold paste and a gold chain worth Rs 12.35 lakh from a passenger on his arrival from Singapore. The gold was seized on July 30 by the custom department’s team.
“On the basis of profiling, two passengers arriving from Singapore to Pune flight by UK 112 on 30.07.2023 were intercepted. Gold paste concealed in a special cavity formed in underwear, and one gold chain was recovered from one of the passengers, and a gold chain was recovered from the other. Gold extracted from the paste and 2 gold chains totally weighing 202 gms valued at Rs. 12,35,445/- were seized. Further investigation is in progress” Custom officials said in a statement.
According to customs authorities, one of the individuals had concealed gold paste in a specially designed compartment within his underwear. The incident occurred when these two men arrived in Pune on a Vistara flight from Singapore. Due to their behavior raising suspicions and profiling efforts, the men underwent a search that led to the discovery of gold paste and two gold chains. The recovered items weighed a total of 202 grams and were valued at Rs. 12.35 lakh.
