Foreign Currency Worth Rs 1.5 Crore Seized In Two Cases At Pune Airport
Pune 4th August 2023: The custom officials at the Pune Airport have intercepted two passengers on their arrival from international flight on July 25 and 31 and have seized foreign currency worth Rs 1.5 Crore from their possession. The action was taken after the passengers were found carrying foreign currency more than permissible limits.
In one such case, a passenger travelling from Dubai to Pune in SG-51 flight was intercepted on July 25 and a foreign currency in United Arab Emirates dirham (AED) worth Rs.9,22,000 (AED 42610) was seized from his possession.
In another case reported on July 31, three passengers bound for Dubai SG-51 flight were intercepted and AED – 651805 having tariff Value Rs.1,41,11,578 was seized from their possession. The currencies being above permissible limits were seized. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
