Gold Worth Rs. 14 Crore Seized from Locker Linked to Cyber Fraudster

Faridabad, 6th May 2024: In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) headquarters has confiscated 19.500 kilograms of gold valued at Rs. 14.04 crore from a locker registered under the name of Punit Kumar’s mother at the Ballabhgarh branch of Indian Bank in Faridabad, Haryana. The seizure took place on May 3, 2024.

Punit Kumar, also known as Puneet Maheshwari, is identified as a cyber fraudster and a resident of Moti Nagar, Delhi. He was apprehended on April 3, 2024, at Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi during an investigation related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) of 2002. Kumar was promptly presented before the esteemed PMLA Court in New Delhi on the same day and subsequently granted 12 days of custody to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He is presently held under judicial custody as part of ongoing legal proceedings.
