Golf Ball Causes Chaos On Pune’s Yerwada Flyover, Sparks Safety Concerns; Biker Files Police Complaint
Yerwada, 1st April 2025: A bizarre incident on the Yerwada flyover led to sudden braking by multiple vehicles, creating a chaotic situation on the road. The unexpected disruption occurred when a golf ball, hit from the Poona Golf Clu, struck a biker in the chest before bouncing onto other passing vehicles.
The incident took place on Saturday around 5 PM when a 32-year-old biker and his friend were riding over the flyover from Gunjan Chowk towards Jail Road. Suddenly, a golf ball, hit at high speed from the nearby course, struck the biker in the chest, causing him severe pain. The ball then ricocheted onto several other vehicles, forcing multiple drivers to slam their brakes, resulting in confusion and near collisions.
Following the incident, the injured biker lodged a complaint against the golf club administration at the local police station. However, even two days after the complaint was filed, no action has reportedly been taken against the club or the players responsible.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In 2023, a similar mishap took place when a passing biker was hit in the face by a stray golf ball from the same course. At that time, the police had registered a case against the Poona Club Golf Course management and an unidentified golfer. With the latest incident raising fresh concerns, questions are being asked about road safety and accountability.
Residents and commuters fear that if necessary precautions are not taken, these stray golf balls could eventually cause a serious accident. Authorities are now under pressure to address the issue and prevent such occurrences in the future.
