Government Brings New Vehicle Scrap Policy; Big Discount On Buying New Vehicle

New Delhi, 18th March 2021: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the much-awaited vehicle scrap policy in Parliament. Under this policy, if a person gives his old vehicle for scraping, he will be given a 5 percent discount on purchasing a new vehicle.
With this policy, not only will the pollution be reduced rapidly, but the auto sector will also get a boost. The parts emanating from vehicles that will be scraped will be recycled, which will reduce the cost of components. Given the ever-increasing pollution in the country and worldwide, the government has prepared this vehicle scrap policy.
Gadkari also said that by issuing an advisory, we have advised the automakers to give a discount of 5% on purchasing a new vehicle on showing a scraping certificate.
The union minister has informed that 51 lakh vehicles are ageing more than 20 years and 34 lakh vehicles ageing is more than 15 years running in the country’s streets. Simultaneously, there are 17 lakh such vehicles in the country that are more than 15 years old and are being run without a fitness certificate. Older vehicles cause 10 to 12 times more pollution, which proves to be extremely dangerous.
