Pune, 13th March 2026: The Revenue Department has decided to divide the office of the District Superintendent of Land Records in Pune district to improve the efficiency of land-related services and speed up the disposal of pending cases. The move is expected to help resolve land measurement requests and boundary disputes more quickly.

The decision comes shortly after the state government approved the establishment of an additional District Collector’s office at Baramati for Pune district last week.

Pune is one of the highest revenue-generating districts in the state and is witnessing rapid urbanisation. With increasing infrastructure projects and the rising value of land, the number of applications for land measurement and related services has grown significantly in recent years.

The Land Records Department conducts surveys for fixing land boundaries, subdivision of land, conversion of land for non-agricultural use, court-related measurements, land acquisition for various projects, and other related work.

Earlier, the entire district was managed by a single District Superintendent of Land Records office, which often resulted in delays in processing applications and cases. Considering the growing workload, the Revenue Department has decided to divide the office to improve administrative efficiency.

The government has also approved the creation of several posts for the new office. These include one District Superintendent of Land Records, a Deputy Superintendent for office administration, surveyors, a head clerk and a senior accountant. Officials said the move is expected to strengthen the revenue administration in Pune district and speed up land-related processes.

Sources said the location of the new office and the list of officials to be appointed will be announced soon.

Along with the division of the district-level office, the government has also approved the establishment of two additional City Survey Offices — City Survey Office No. 3 and City Survey Office No. 4.

At present, Pune city has only two such offices — City Survey Office No. 1 and City Survey Office No. 2. The new offices are expected to help handle the increasing number of urban land survey cases and improve service delivery.
