Pune: Unidentified Man’s Body Pulled from Mula-Mutha River Near Mundhwa Bridge
Pune, 13th March 2026: A joint rescue operation by the Pune Fire Brigade and local police led to the recovery of an unidentified man’s body from the Mula-Mutha River near the Mundhwa Jackwell Bridge on Friday.
Police alerted the fire brigade after noticing a body floating in the riverbed area about 200 to 300 metres east of the bridge. Acting on the information, a team from the B.T. Kawade Road Fire Station rushed to the spot with a fire engine and rescue personnel.
Considering the polluted condition of the river and the difficult terrain, additional rescue support was requested. A rescue van and boat from the Central Fire Station were dispatched, while firefighters from the Kharadi Fire Station also joined the operation.
Rescuers tied safety ropes to a boat and carefully navigated towards the location using oars and safety lines. After reaching the spot, firefighters retrieved the body and brought it back to the riverbank using the boat.
The body was later placed on a stretcher, shifted to an ambulance, and handed over to the police for further investigation.
Officials said the identity of the deceased has not yet been established. The man is believed to be around 45 years old and was reportedly wearing a white-and-blue checked shirt and black formal trousers when he was found.
Police have begun inquiries to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
