Governor urges industrialists to support social campaigns

Governor Acharya Devvrat urged the industrialists to come forward and extend support for social campaigns and undertake welfare activities to strengthen the society. He was addressing an interactive session held with the representatives of  Baddi-Barotiwala -Nalagarh Industrial Association and prominent citizens of the area at Baddi in district Solan, today.

He urged the pharmaceutical companies to devise a mechanism to produce alternate of such medicines which were being used as drugs. He expressed concern over the growing consumption of drugs especially among youth and added that effective measures were necessary to save the youngsters. He said that the growth of nation depended on youth who should contribute actively in nation building activities instead of falling victims to drugs.

He stressed upon launching an effective anti drug campaign across the State and asked the industrialists to contemplate setting up of drug rehabilitation centres to help those who were under the grip of alcohol and drugs. He also suggested them to send specialists to generate awareness in schools and colleges of industrial areas.  He further said that workers in industrial areas also consume alcohol and drugs and organizing workshops for industrial workers could help in checking this problem to a large extent.

Underlining the importance of cleanliness, Acharya Devvrat urged the industrialists to contribute in making industrial areas green and clean by initiating cleanliness campaigns. He also suggested them to donate dustbins in large numbers for garbage disposal. He said that industrial waste was also an issue of concern causing pollution and stressed upon setting up of common effluent treatment plants to check such waste. He also urged the industrial community to come forward with environment protection activities to preserve the beauty of hills.

Governor said that mass awareness should be generated in the society to check social evils like dowry, female foeticide etc. He said that girls should be educated which was the only way to bring about women empowerment. He said that women were contributing in every sector and girls have made the country proud in every sphere. He also stressed upon rearing of indigenous cow breeds and adopting organic farming for strengthening the economy of farmers in the state.

Shri Shailesh Agrawal President Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industrial Association welcomed the Governor. He assured him of full support on behalf of the association fulfilling corporate social responsibility for the betterment of society. He said that schools, solid waste management plants and working hostels for men and women working in industrial areas have been set up.
