Greenwood High Bannerghatta crafts a world of magic and fantasy within their campus
August 05, 2018:Greenwood High has yet again come up with a unique concept of promoting experiential learning. Paying their tribute to J.K Rowling, the celebrated novelist from “Harry Potter” fame, on her birth anniversary, Greenwood High – Bannerghatta, recreated the fictional world of magic by organizing a first-of-its-kind carnival in Bangalore called “Witches, Wizards & Wands”yesterday. In an effort to cultivate the habit of reading within children, the carnival had a treasury house of books by various authors along with a host of games, Do-It-Yourself, theme-based food and other fun activities engaging both children and their parents. Over 1500 children attended this carnival, all dressed up for the occasion as a witch, wizard and won an array of exciting prizes to live the characters of their fantasy for real.
“I had always wondered what it would be like to turn into a witch or a wizard and venture into an alternative world away from the “muggles”. Thank you Greenwood High for a giving us the feel of dwelling from the pages of our favourite books for a day” said Keya Bist, one of the kids who was part of the event.
“This is a good break for our children from the hectic schedule of academics and also a wonderful initiative of bringing back the lost art of book-reading in this age of smart phones and social media. Children should know that there lies a world hidden within the folds of books waiting to be explored through imagination” said Mrs. Harpreet Sehgal, parent of one of the children.
Speaking on this occasion, Ms. Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High International School said, “At Greenwood High, we never try to confine our children within the four walls of the classroom. Instead encourage them to seek beyond, to be inquisitive and learn through all the senses.”
