GST Authorities Serve Staggering Rs 1 Lakh Crore Notices to Online Gaming Giants Including Dream11, DeltaCorp for Tax Evasion
National, 25th October 2023: Online gaming companies, including notable names like Dream11 and Delta Corp, have been served show cause notices amounting to a staggering Rs 1 lakh crore by GST authorities for alleged tax evasion.
These notices have been issued due to concerns of short payments of taxes.
The government has made it mandatory for foreign gaming companies to register in India since October 1, and they are subject to a 28 percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the full value of bets placed on online gaming platforms. While some legal battles have ensued, these developments mark a significant shift in the taxation landscape for the online gaming industry.
