Panchmahal (Gujarat), 7th February 2026: A Class 12 student allegedly slapped and pushed a woman teacher inside a classroom at S.J. Dev High School in Shera town of Gujarat’s Panchmahal district. The incident occurred on January 24, but came to light after CCTV footage surfaced, following which an FIR was registered on February 3.

According to the police, the student had arrived late for his second preliminary examination. When the female invigilator questioned him about the delay, the student allegedly became aggressive and said, “No one questions me at home. Who are you to ask me anything?”

CCTV footage shows students writing their exam when the accused enters the classroom. He is seen arguing with the teacher near the door, slapping her on the cheek and then pushing her forcefully. Other students got up from their desks as the incident unfolded. The accused then fled from the spot.

Despite the incident, the remaining students completed their examination.

After the video went viral on social media, there was widespread outrage. Police said that on the same day of the incident, the student’s father visited the school and apologised to the teacher and the in-charge principal.

However, on January 27, the student allegedly returned to the school along with his father and 15–20 others. It is alleged that he threatened the teacher, saying she lived alone in the city and “would be dealt with.” The student, however, claimed he had gone with others only to apologise to the teacher and school staff.

Police Inspector Ankur Chaudhary said the police reconstructed the sequence of events to understand the full chain of the incident. The accused, identified as 18-year-old Mohammad Khan Ansari, was arrested and produced before a court, which granted him bail on Friday.

Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
