Half of Pune city Sealed Due to Coronavirus, Strict Curfew Being Implemented

Pune, April 15, 2020: As the number of Coronavirus Positive patients are increasing day by day, the lockdown has been extended till May 3. Meanwhile, Pune city police today issued prohibitory orders for strict implementation of a curfew in more areas of Pune where many COVID19 patients have been detected.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ravindra Shisve issued the orders which also include directions to keep all non-essential establishments closed including religious places as well as a ban on vehicle movement. People have to wear a mask if they are outside their homes. Only Kirana, medical store, hospital and other essential services are allowed to operate. People are not allowed to come out on road or in bylanes. Social distancing is the key to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and hence people should stay at home, the order states.

The number of Coronavirus Positive cases has reached 380 in Pune district today including 316 from areas under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). A total of 34 people have died in Pune city till now due to this deadly virus. Since April 7, the central part of Pune from Mahrishinagar to RTO has been sealed as most cases have been detected from those areas especially Bhavani Peth and adjacent areas.

The PMC has declared a health emergency in Pune and notified these areas. Now following areas will be sealed and a strict curfew will be enforced :

Zone 1: Khadak Police Station

What will happen in these areas?

In these areas, barricades will be put up and people will not be allowed to move out for the coming days. Police will be deployed to take action against people who violate this complete shutdown or lockdown rule. All these steps are being taken as per containment plan to deal with Coronavirus outbreak. People engaged in essential services will be allowed to move out or move in these areas.  

KNOW THESE THINGS

Shops selling essential commodities like vegetable, fruit, milk, grocery (Kirana) will remain open only between 10 am to 12 noon. If there is a crowd at these shops, police will close them and send people home. Also, all banks will remain closed and only ATMs will be open.

All the shops have to maintain social distancing among customers. They should use masks, gloves and hand sanitizers. Police may change timing depending on circumstances in future.

Police have also cancelled all (digital/QR code) passes given to people to use their vehicle. If anybody is living in the sealed area and his/her workplace is located anywhere else, the company should make arrangements to stay in (nearby) the office.
