Pune 26th Sept 2023: The Highway Police have issued an advisory to ban entry to the heavy vehicles travelling on Pune-Mumbai Expressway to Mumbai City, Navi Mumbai and Thane City between September 27 and 29. The decision has been taken in view of processions that will be organised on the occasion of ganpati visarjan and Eid-E-Milad.

The entry to heavy vehicles will remain prohibited in these three cities from Pune-Mumbai Expressway (NH48) between 12 am on September 27 till 12 am on September 29 till the Eid-E-Milad procession ends, said officials. It may be noted that huge processions are organised to celebrate both festivals across the state. The movement of heavy vehicles from the city roads may lead to traffic congestion when the processions are organised due to which the officials have prohibited their entry to the city limits.

The Highway police have also banned entry to heavy vehicles on Pune-Goa National Highway (NH 66) between 8 am on September 28 and 8 pm on September 29. During this period all vehicles weighing 16 tonnes and above will be prohibited on the highway to avoid traffic congestion.
