Pune, 23rd March 2026 : The movement of heavy vehicles on a stretch of the old Pune–Mumbai highway will remain suspended on March 25 in view of the Chaitri Yatra at the Ekvira Devi temple in Maval taluka, officials said.
As per orders issued by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, heavy vehicles will not be allowed between Vadgaon Phata and Kusgaon Budruk toll plaza from 12 am on March 25. The traffic will be diverted via the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. The curbs will remain in place till midnight on March 26.
Officials said vehicles travelling from Kusgaon Budruk towards Vadgaon Phata will also be rerouted through the expressway. However, light vehicles carrying devotees have been exempted from the restrictions.
In addition, entry of vehicles from Karla Phata towards the foothill of the Ekvira temple has been prohibited. Devotees travelling by private vehicles have been directed to use designated parking facilities at Agrasen Hotel, Lajwanti College and Durga Parmeshwari grounds.
The administration said the traffic diversions have been planned to manage the anticipated influx of devotees and to ensure smooth traffic flow and law and order during the annual festival at Vehergaon in the Lonavala rural area.
