Pune, 08 November 2023: Hero MotoCorp has introduced a new scooter at this year’s EICMA show in Milan, Italy, marking a departure from the prevailing scooter trends in India. Recently, Chhavi Hero shared a teaser image of this scooter on their social media platform. The scooter boasts a robust and substantial design, positioning itself as a contender against Yamaha Aerox 155 in the Indian market.

Upon closer inspection of the Hero Xoom 160 trailer, its distinctive features become apparent. This model is poised to be a maxi-scooter, featuring a blend of functional and stylish elements. Noteworthy attributes include a substantial front apron, a characteristic of maxi scooters, along with a windscreen. The scooter exudes a tall stance, incorporates large wheels, and incorporates a long-distance suspension ADV setup, enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.

The teaser image hints at the presence of 14-inch diameter alloy wheels, aligning it with models like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Aprilia SR 160. Like other maxi scooters, it includes a frame-based hand lamp with a central spine, while DRLs are expected to adorn both sides. Although specific details about the Hero Zoom 160’s engine are currently unavailable, experts anticipate it will share the powertrain of the Hero Extreme 160R 4V. This entails a 163.2 cc single-cylinder air and oil-cooled engine, capable of producing 16.6bhp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 14.6nm at 6,500 rpm. Furthermore, it is anticipated to be coupled with an automatic gearbox.

The Hero Zoom 160’s feature set is likely to encompass a sizable infotainment system offering smartphone and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, it is expected to incorporate intelligent functionalities such as a multifunctional key, automatic start-stop system, side stand engine cut-off, and turn-by-turn voice-assisted navigation. The hardware and suspension components are anticipated to comprise long-travel telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs. Braking duties are projected to be handled by a 230mm single disc at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear, complemented by a single-channel ABS and anti-locking braking system.

While an official launch statement is pending, industry experts predict a potential launch in India in 2024. In terms of pricing, the Hero Xoom 160 is anticipated to be priced between Rs 1.70 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s important to note that the information provided is based solely on the teaser image, and any subsequent updates will be promptly communicated.
