High Alert in Pune After Car Blast Kills 9 in Delhi
Pune/New Delhi, 10th November 2025: A high alert has been issued in Pune after a powerful explosion killed at least nine people near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Sandeep Bhajibhakare confirmed that Pune Police have been put on alert following the incident.
Panic gripped the area after a car exploded near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The impact was so severe that parts of the vehicle were flung into the nearby Lal Mandir, shattering glass windows and damaging several shops in the vicinity.
High Alert at Pune Railway Station
The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), along with the dog squad and bomb disposal and detection squad (BDDS), have launched an intensive search operation, thoroughly inspecting bags and the station premises.
According to initial reports, nine people have been confirmed dead. Soon after the blast, a fire broke out in nearby shops, and tremors from the explosion were reportedly felt up to Bhagirath Palace in Chandni Chowk. Witnesses said several vehicles, including buses, caught fire following the explosion.

Emergency services were quickly mobilized, with six ambulances and seven fire tenders dispatched to the spot. Rescue and relief operations are underway, and efforts are being made to bring the fire under control.
The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined. Police have cordoned off the area, and forensic and intelligence teams are collecting evidence. Preliminary findings suggest the blast originated inside the car, though the nature and motive of the explosion remain unclear.
Following the incident, security has been heightened across the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk areas. High alerts have also been issued in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh as a precautionary measure.
