Swargate, 10th November 2025: A case has been registered at Swargate Police Station (FIR No. 317/2025) against two former contract employees of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) for alleged negligence, misrepresentation, and misuse of the corporation’s software systems.

The complaint was filed by PMPML’s Legal Officer, Gyanoba Jadhav, against Rajan Madhukar Lingayat, a resident of Dhankawadi, and Gaurav Kulkarni, a resident of Kothrud. Both were appointed as Marketing Executives on a contract basis at a salary of Rs two lakh and were responsible for handling digital platforms such as Cargo FL, PayU Dashboard, PMPML Mobile App, and revenue-related systems.

According to the complaint, the duo failed to ensure proper functioning of the QR code ticketing system that was introduced between August and September 2025. The malfunction led to severe inconvenience for passengers and reportedly caused a decline in the PMPML’s revenue.

Following the incident, PMPML had already terminated their contracts.
Further investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly misused confidential software data and passwords, and made unauthorized use of PMPML’s official email accounts and website. They also failed to return government-issued laptops, tablets, computers, and other equipment after their dismissal.

Based on these findings, police have registered a case against Lingayat and Kulkarni under Sections 314, 3(5), and 69 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is underway.
