Himachal Pradesh Grapples with Relentless Rainfall, Beas River Swells Triggering Widespread Disruption

New Delhi, 14th August 2023: Intense rainfall persists in Himachal Pradesh, leading to widespread disruption. The Beas River’s swelling has resulted in flooding in various areas. The India Meteorological Department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert, indicating the potential for substantial rainfall in the state on Monday. Due to continuous heavy rainfall causing landslides and road closures over the last 24 hours, the state government has decided to shut down all schools and colleges. According to the IMD, regions including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim could experience isolated heavy rainfall today.
