Hinjawadi: Marijuana Worth Rs 6.5 lakh Seized By Crime Branch

Pune, September 24, 2020: Busting a drug cartel, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crime Branch seized narcotic substances worth Rs 6.5 lakhs on Wednesday. The seizure compromises 25 kilograms of marijuana, and the police officials have arrested one person in this connection as well.

While patrolling under the jurisdiction of Hinjawadi police station, Assistant Sub Inspector Shakir Jinedi received confidential information about a drug dealer who sold ganja at Hinjewadi IT Park Phase – 2, Bodkewadi.

Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Police Inspector Shriram Pol laid a trap near Hikal company and arrested the accused. He has been identified as Yogeshwar Fate (23), resident of Gokhale Nagar. The probe revealed that Fate had kept marijuana worth Rs 6,40,150.
Police Sub-inspector Prashant Mahale of Anti Narcotics Cell is investigating the case further.

This action was taken under the guidance Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sudhir Hiremath and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajaram Patil. The team included policemen Rajan Mahadik, Pratip Shelar, Rajendra Bamble, Shakur Tamboli, Sandip Patil, Santosh Dighe, Santosh Bhalerao, Ashok Gargate, Dada Ghas, Prasad Jangilvad, Ajit Kute, Pandurang Funde and Pradip Gatte.
