Maharashtra: Ex-servicemen Exempted From Property Tax, Know How To Avail This Facility

Pune, September 24 2020: Under the servicemen welfare scheme, the ex-servicemen too will get an exemption from property tax. Earlier, this scheme was being implemented for the widows of the soldiers, but now it has been extended to the ex-servicemen too.

To avail the benefits, the ex-servicemen will have to produce their identity card and the tax documents. Zilla Sainik Welfare officer Major Milind Tungar (retd) said, “the scheme started in 2016 has proved very beneficial for the widows. Earlier, the scheme was given to the widows under ‘Balasaheb Thackeray Sanman yojana’. We welcome the move by the state to extend it for the ex-servicemen.”

All the ex-servicemen from the state can avail this scheme. The ex-servicemen (from another state) has to be resident of Maharashtra for the last 15 years and should have his/her own house. The widows will get the concession in tax for property both in rural and urban areas.
