Hinjawadi: Women Highway Robbers Gang Arrested For Looting Rs 2 Lakh; Police Suspect Involvement In Many Cases

Pune, December 15, 2020: Hinjewadi police have arrested a gang of women robbers who had an argument with a woman during a bus journey and looted Rs 2 lakh from her. The incident took place between Sutarwadi and Radha Chowk on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway. Police have registered a case of robbery in this regard.

Sarika Ram Budbukki (20), Pallavi Ram Budbukki (22), Bhavani Manjenath Budbukki (32), Deepa Senu Budbukki (22), all resident of Tembhurni, Tal. Madha, Dist. Solapur and two other women have been arrested. One of their accomplices has escaped. Archana Manohar Deokar (37), a native of Karad in Satara district who resides in Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, has lodged a complaint with police.

According to police, Deokar was travelling from Karad to Mumbai bus around 3 pm on Sunday when seven women in a bus between Sutarwadi and Radha Chowk approached the complainant and argued. They had a scuffle with the complainant, the bus stopped at Radha Chowk and the accused forcibly snatched the gold necklace from the complainant’s neck. They tried to flee with Rs 10,000 in cash and jewellery, a total of Rs 1.83 lakh. The accused were nabbed by the highway marshals Tanaji Takle, Avinash Sagar with the help of local residents.

Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Sawant, in-charge of Hinjawadi police station, said that during the investigation, it was revealed that these groups of ladies travel in buses with their children. They fight with the women passengers who have expensive jewellery and create chaos in the bus and taking advantage of it they snatch the gold jewellery. The accused had earlier told their fake names whereas they belong to Solapur. It is suspected that they have done many such robberies. Hinjawadi Police Station under Pimpri Chinchwad police is investigating further.

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Crime) Sudhir Hiremath, DCP (Zone 2) Anand Bhoite and ACP (Wakad division) Ganesh Biradar. The team included Police Inspector (Crime) Ajay Jogdand, PSI Nandraj Gabhale, and police personnel Avinash Sagar, Tanaji Takle, Vijay Bijtantri, Rekha Dhotre, Tejshri Mhaishale, Bhagyashri Jamdade and Poonam Alhat.
