Camp, December 15, 2020: Under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has decided to recruit 35 Social Health Workers to keep a check on the health of the citizens.

As per NUHM norm, there is a need for one such health worker for the population of 2000 people. Accordingly, recruitment will be held. In the Pune Cantonment Board around 70,000 citizens are residing. Therefore 35 health workers will be recruited, informed Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad, Resident Medical Officer, PCB’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital.

By the end of the next month in every ward, four such health workers will be recruited. These health workers will take the health information from the citizens and this information will be kept updated. Due to this process, if any citizen has a health issue it will be easy for hospital administration to carry further treatment.

Dr Gaikwad said that in future surveys, these health workers will play a crucial role. NUHM will give these workers honorarium and incentives. It will be compulsory for workers to be present in their respective wards.
