Hinjewadi Police Seized Gutkha Worth Rs 5.13 Lakh

Pune, January 25, 2021: Hinjewadi police station officials have seized illegal Gutkha supply of around Rs 6 lakh from a trader.

Senior police inspector Balkrishna Sawant said, “The two persons have been arrested in the case. We have also seized a mobile phone, a two-wheeler and Gutkha worth Rs 5.13 lakh.”

Ramkishore Bhavaruram Chaudhary (34) and his brother Mahendra Bhavaruram Chaudhary (25), both residents of Vishalnagar, Pimple Nilakh are the names of those arrested. Two others, Deepji Rathore and Jitu Bhati have escaped. Police constable Ravi Prakash Pawar has lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to police, while patrolling the Mumbai-Bangalore highway, a two-wheeler was chased by the police while they were carrying a box of gutkha. During the interrogation, the accused Ramkishore said that the Gutkha was sold at a stall in Mahalunge area. Accordingly, the police have seized a two-wheeler, a mobile phone and a bag of gutkha worth Rs 5,84,220.

This action was taken under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Anand Bhoite, Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Biradar by the team of Senior Inspector of Police Balkrishna Sawant, Police Inspector (Crime) Ajay Jogdand, API Sagar Kate and police personnel Parale, Ravi Pawar, Pandhare and Ali Sheikh.
